St. Clothilde Devoured By Swine

(oil on canvas) 48"x24" -2007 Clothilde was a devout Christian girl married to a Pagan German prefect in the service of Rome. Her efforts at converting the Roman troops so angered her husband, he locked her in the cave where his hogs were kept. He told her to convert the hogs, and when the hogs were able to pray he would feed them. Ultimately, the starving livestock ate her.
